Work-life Balance

Does anybody know what a healthy work-life balance is? Sometimes I think that I have found the perfect balance only to suddenly find myself inexplicably stressed over nothing… seemingly.

A healthy work-life balance means different things to different people. For some people it might mean working 12 hour days for fifty weeks in a year so after a few years you can take a couple of months off to travel a continent. For other people it might mean working a three day week so you can spend more time with family. For most people, I think it’s fair to say that it’s about finding the time to do the things that we want to do outside of work. As a busy Limerick website designer I have started taking steps to ensure I get the work-life balance right.

I enjoy a good deal of individual sports, namely… running, swimming and cycling. I participate in varying events throughout the year like adventure races and triathlons. What I have found difficult previously, is finding an hour every day to train and keep fit. If I found my day was a little under pressure for time, training always seemed to be the first to suffer.

Striking the balance

To combat this, I began to use my commute to work to train. By running and cycling in and out of work I have recycled a lot of time that would have been spent sitting in traffic. This freed time has had a domino effect on my day. I now find that I have a lot more free time during the week, some of which has been distributed into areas relieving stress… like catching up on a little work, watching a little tv, going to bed half an hour earlier or whatever.

If you are looking for a busy Limerick website designer who is striking the balance right to stay sharp and on top of his game – look no further. Give me a shout if you would like to chat about your website needs or even go for a run together.
